Welcome to Atlanta

I don't think a week goes by that I do not get a DM asking for suggestions for places to eat and things to do in Atlanta. I have food highlight in my bio but I don't think anyone looks at it. haha, So I wanted to create a blog to cover the places that I enjoy. Far as nightlife I don't go out on a normal anymore I would go to events so I am not much help in that area but I can give some suggestions for fun places and restaurants. For brunch options please see the previous blog for those options: https://www.drlaurenelise.com/post/in-atlanta-we-brunch. I guess everyone thinks I am a travel agent for Atlanta lol It will make 9 years as a resident in August 2021.
Fun Places:
Andretti Indoor Karting and Games (we have two locations). Marietta is a little closer to the Metro area. This is good for kids and adults.
Top Golf (we have two locations) Midtown is the best. On Friday's they use to have a bomb DJ at night and 21 + after a certain time.
Ponce City Market rooftop (games, miniature golf, slide, bar, restaurant, rides)
Hotel Clermont Rooftop (I have not personally made it here yet but I hear it is very nice so I plan to go this summer for sure).
Puttshack is new but an adult in-door play area.
Fetch Park is a new adult dog park with a bar.
Movies. We have two new upscale theaters one in Midtown called IPIC Atlanta and one in Smyrna called Silverspot Cinema.
I love concerts and there is always one in Atlanta I love One Music Fest (I went to the last one September 2019 T-Pain, Uncle Luke, Trina, Trick Daddy, Summer Walker, Three 6 Mafia (fav), and Gucci Mane all in one day! Birthday Bash is annual as well.
High Museum
Want some cardio? Stone Mountain is always amazing with a great view! Also Piedmont Park and the Beltline (rent a bike and enjoy the ride)
Atlanta Botanical Gardens
Six Flags
The usual Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca Cola, Martin Luther King Center, etc.
Shopping in Buckhead at the Shops of Buckhead, Phipps Plaza, and Sandy Springs Perimeter Mall. Lenox has become a little dangerous the last few years with several shootings I would not suggest it.
Slush ATL
Garden Parc (K Michelle's restaurant)
Edgewood (a series of bars)
Buckhead Bars (series of bars)
Bar Vegan ATL
Food:
Upscale:
The Oceanaire Seafood Room
STK Steakhouse
The Agency Socialtique
The Capital Grille
The Garden Room (hard to get reservations and the food is small/interesting but the ambiance is unmatched)
Chops and Lobster Bar in Buckhead
Ray's in the City and Ray's on the River
Bar Margot
Canoe
Marcel
Kevin Rathbun Steak
The Sundial (you are paying for the view, not the bland food)
Del Frisco's
Atlanta Fish Market
South City Kitchen Buckhead
Houston's not upscale but an Atlanta staple (use to be two locations before TI got the one in Buckhead shut down) Love the spinach dip!
That is what I can think of off the top of my head. I am sure there is more ---so many here and always something new.
Hood classics:
Juicy Crab (you have to get it with the juicy special medium sauce) The best location is on Cobb Pkwy
Mr. Everything's (my favorite) I get the healthy choice plate with chicken and shrimp no onions, peppers, or mushrooms, extra everything else with ranch and hot sauce.
American Deli (10 piece lemon pepper hot, extra wet, extra crispy) it's The Atlanta way
J.R. Crickets (the original wing pioneer in the city)
JJ's Fish (but you go for the chicken fried chicken wings and shrimp)
Thumb's Up Diner
Atlanta Breakfast Club (not necessarily a hood classic but good food)
Benihana's the one on Peachtree lol
Busy Bee's
Old Lady Gang
Slutty Vegan is popular here
I hope this helps with your travel to Atlanta. Enjoy your stay. Be sure to get some fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, sweet tea (the only way we make it), and peach cobbler of course before you leave!
